RiverDay 2012 - Saturday, May 19th.
An annual day of service and celebration in the Cuyahoga Watershed sponsored by Friends of the Crooked River and Appalachian Outfitters.

See News & Events for event listing all around our area, including #12, The Best Dam Bus Tour, a FREE tour of six exemplary dam removal & restoration sites in the middle Cuyahoga watershed. Join this celebration of the bene!ts of a “free-flowing” Cuyahoga River. When RiverDay began 22 years ago, there were 8 major dams on the Cuyahoga River. Over the last 10 years, 2 have been removed: Kent and Munroe Falls. This summer, 2 more dams will fall in Cuyahoga Falls!

Partners from all over the watershed are working to establish a Cuyahoga River Water Trail. Water quality in Akron will be greatly improved, thanks to the city’s plan to correct its sewer overflows. The events planned for RiverDay 2012 will applaud this work, honor the results of past efforts and preview what dreams may emerge, including removing the BIG DAM.

Regional Conservation Report - Survey

This project will feature the successes and challenges of our collective conservation efforts in northern Ohio. As a way to collect insights and ideas from conservation leaders a survey has been developed at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RegionalConservationReport. Any questions regarding the survey or the Regional Conservation Report can be directed to Liz Mather, GIS and Conservation Planning Manager, Western Reserve Land Conservancy via email: emather@wrlandconservancy.org or phone: (440) 729-9618 x104.

Stormwater Problems Are Real...and so are the solutions

Held March 24, 2010
Cleveland Metroparks Canalway Center

70+ in attendance March 24, 2010Flooding, erosion, and water quality problems are a reality for our communities.
Solving these problems can be difficult since stormwater runoff from one community drains into another; crossing political boundaries. In this program we learned how a comprehensive “watershed approach” to stormwater is the best answer to these challenges, and what is being done in Northeast Ohio.
